Amidst all the controversies, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards 2010 is going to be a star-studded event with many Bollywood celebrities flying to the Island country Sri Lanka. The film festival will kick start on June 3 at Colombo and conclude on June 5.

Many Indian celebrities like Salman Khan, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Hrithik Roshan, Dino Morea, Boman Irani and others have confirmed their presence for the gala event. The film festival will also see performance from Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez, who has entered Bollywood. A charity cricket match will also be played between the Indian celebrities and Sri Lankan cricketers.

However, some big Bollywood names are going to give it a miss. The news is doing the rounds that Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of IIFA, has decided to skip the event following protests by Tamilians, who are against holding the film fest in Sri Lanka for the atrocities meted to the Tamilians in the country. It is said that besides the Bachchan family, big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal will not attend the event.

After we reported that John Abraham was being signed for Van Heusen, here's yet another news on the star. He has now been signed up by the electronics major Haier India, to be their brand ambassador. Sources close to us informed that this association will be for a span of two years and that John will be representing the entire product portfolio of the brand, including LCD TVs, washing machines, refrigerators and small kitchen appliances.
Looks like John Abraham is all set to make the fortunes of Haier India with his infectious smile.

Laila Khan and Farhan Furniturewalas reception was flooded with high-profile names and A-listers from Bollywood and society.

There were a sprinkling of guests from the art fraternity as well; Laila is, after all, an artist too! Besides the Khan family —Lailas brother Fardeen Khan, uncle and aunt Sanjay and Zarine Khan, and cousins Sussane and Hrithik Roshan, Farah and Aqeel Ali and Simone Khan Arora — Bollywood was also represented by the Bachchan parivar accompanied by Amar Singh, Randhir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Gupta, Riteish Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Javed Jaaferi, Ameesha Patel, Kishen Kumar, Johnny Lever, Bharat Shah, Alvira and Atul Agnihotri and Rekha (who entered well after the Bachchans had left). Vinod Khanna walked in with his wife Kavita and sister-in-law Gauri Pohoomal and the three brothers-in-white — Abbas, Mustan and Hussain — came together.

Chhagan Bhujbal was also there for a short while. Subrata Roy greeted Fardeen with a warm hug and blessed the couple. Atul Kasbekar and Rahul Akerkar enjoyed some small talk over food and drinks while Mustafa and Rukshana Eisa, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Prerna Goel, Madhoo, Kaykasshan Patel, Sharmilla Khanna, Surily Goel, Tara Sharma and Shaina NC were among the string of guests present. Bose Krishnamachari, Sunil and Tanuja Padwal, Brinda Miller and Arzan Khambatta represented the art frat. The couple cut a 60 kg white and gold marzipan cake made by Desiree. What a night it was!!!

Mohan Lal the South Indian superstar who already given his presence in Bollywood through films like Company and Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and character actor Naseeruddin Shah cast together in a single film is a great combination since these actors are considered to be the greatest performers ever in the history of the Indian cinema. In the film Priyanka Chopra once again plays a negative character after after Aitraaz (2004) and Yakeen. In this upcoming film she plays a character who kills all her 7 husbands.
The actress was previously seen in Bharadwaj's production venture Kaminey.
