Why am I here today? asked Anil Kapoor when he was in Delhi during a recent visit. Im here first because I love coming to Delhi. Im here after a long time and Im very excited to be here. Of course, that got him a few cheers. He was here at a press conference organised by IIFA to announce a charity cricket match to be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka (where IIFA is being held this year) as part of its charitable initiatives in that country.

Also there was Sri Lankan bowler Muttiah Muralitharan, and they were both talking about the match, which is going to be an actors versus cricketers game. When Murali was welcomed on stage, Anil said, Im a huge admirer. Im going to imitate him in one of my movies, and Im going to pose like he does how he looks when hes bowling. And then the actor did an impromptu bowling action (run-up and everything included, in his spiffy suit), making a scrunched up face just like Murali does on the field!

Later, Murali said that he was optimistic that the match would have a large number of spectators coming to watch it. People always see cricketers in the field, but they dont see stars performing in the field. So therell always be lots of people coming to see it... Not Murali or Jayasuriya, but to see the stars, because Sri Lanka is one place where theyve seen everything but they havent seen them. Its not about winning and losing, its about entertainment. People can interact with stars, get autographs and stuff, like IPL also theres that combo. Its a cause too, and I hope people come in big numbers.

Asked about the recent IPL vs World Cup episode and Dhonis statement, he said, IPL is a very good initiative to popularise cricket everywhere, and I think India is the number one team in both forms of cricket. Without ability, no team can be number one. Dhoni has performed tremendously well and one instance should not being him such harsh criticism.
